For over 50 years, the Choctawhatchee High School Band has entertained audiences from the Great State of Florida to California and beyond. Notable performances include the Macy’s Parade, The National Band Festival held in Carnegie Hall, The Rose Bowl Parade, and Bands of America Regionals held in GA and MS. The rich history of music education through performance has and will continue to be a cornerstone of the Choctawhatchee Band program.

Currently, there are over 200 musicians enrolled in performing ensemble classes at Choctawhatchee High School. These include Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Color Guard and Dance, Percussion, and our pride and joy, the Symphonic Band. Each class is tailored to the specific skills and needs of the students. Depending on the time of year, these students can participate in anywhere from one to five additional performing ensembles which meet outside of the normal school day. Choctawhatchee Band students also perform in annual events such as Solo and Ensemble, Okaloosa All County honor band and the All-State Band and Festival.

It is our mission to provide comprehensive music education to any student that has the desire to be a part of our program. From hearing the sounds of Big Green Indian, our school fight song, to the strains of Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier, one would certainly agree that the Choctawhatchee Band has been and will continue to be a shining star in the Okaloosa County District Schools.
